Johnnie Chandler, 80, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in SchoolerGordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with the Rev. Raymond Bowen officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.

Mr. Chandler was born in Arcadia, La., where he graduated from high school. He was an Army veteran of World War II. In 1981, he moved to Amarillo from Albuquerque, N.M. He retired as security officer with Sandia Corp., and was a member of Bushland Baptist Church.

He married Savannah Scott in 1942 at Alexandria, La.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Chandler of Albuquerque and Ed Hendrix of Dalhart; a daughter, Virginia Hendrix of Dalhart; a brother, Allen Chandler of Louisiana; two sisters, Collett Pardue of Arkansas and Sadie Kilgore of Port Arthur; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony Hospice and Life Enrichment Center.
