Ted graduated from Milford High School in 1959, and then from Indiana University/Purdue University Fort Wayne with a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University.
He faithfully served his country in the United States Army as a Staff Sargent (E-6) in the Fifth Army from 1963 to 1969.
He worked for many years for International Harvester in Fort Wayne as a plant manager, then for Miller's Merry Manor in Warsaw, Ind., where he was senior vice president of corporate services for 31 years. He was a member of North Webster United Methodist Church for many years, the North Webster American Legion Post 253, Tippecanoe Lake Country Club, Warsaw Masonic Lodge and Mizpah Shrine Temple. In Florida, he attended Good News United Methodist Church. In addition. he was an Eagle Scout. He was united in marriage to Nancy L. Beer on April 9, 1961 in Warsaw, Ind. They had one son, Jason A. Beer, of Seagrove Beach, Fla. Ted moved to Florida in 2015 after Nancy's death in 2014, to be with his son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren. He loved fishing, dancing, IU basketball, and spending time with his family. He was known for being a tough negotiator, his mischievous and fun personality, and for his giving and generous heart.
Ted is survived by one son, Jason (and spouse Kristine) of Seagrove Beach, Fla., and two grandchildren, Alex and Caroline Beer of Seagrove Beach, Fla. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved being an active part of their lives while living in Indiana and Florida.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Beer.
Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the North Webster American Legion Post 253.
