Bernice Geraldine Strickland Gorday, 87, of Waycross died Friday (May 4, 2007) at her residence after a brief illness.

A native of Wayne County and a daughter to the late Nelson Strickland and Rhonda Ann Griner Strickland; also preceded in death by her husband, James Arnold Gorday,
one son, Ronald Glenn Gorday and eight brothers and sisters.

She had lived in Waycross for most of her life. Ms. Gorday was a member of Central Baptist Church, Mary Martha Sunday School Class, Merry Makers and was a homemaker.

Ms. Gorday is survived by two sons,
Randall Joseph Gorday (Christine), Waycross,
James Clyde Gorday, Springfield, VA,

eight grandhchildren,
Dana Taylor, Jennifer Gorday, Karen Gorday, Michael Sweat, Lisa Thornton, Chris Gorday, Dana Adams and Michael Gorday;
eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 pm at Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1 – 2 pm at the funeral home.

Miles-Odum Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
