Ruth Virginia Williams (Nee Farmer), age 95, of Carrollton, Missouri, died quietly on Saturday, August 18, 2018, in Columbia, Missouri with her daughter, Reverend Shirley A. Williams, Pastor Emeritus by her side.

Ruth was born on December 3, 1922, to Roy and Rosy (Weddle) Farmer in Hardin, Missouri. In January of 1938, she married Marvin Williams and they were blessed with two daughters, Shirley and Rose.

Ruth was a woman of great faith and a devoted servant of God. She and Marvin had been active members of the First Baptist Church in Carrollton where she was a Sunday school teacher for 60 years, had served as WMU President, and was very active in Mission work. Ruth truly enjoyed her membership in the Forum Federated Club and had been elected president several times. In her younger years, she liked sewing, and flower and vegetable gardening. Ruth was an excellent cook who was very comfortable in the kitchen; she excelled in baking pies and cakes and was known as the "Queen of homemade noodles"! Ruth made many friends while taking her daily three-mile walks all over town; and make no mistake, she didn't let grass grow under her feet, it was hard to keep up with her! She would keep walking but would always give a quick hello, a wave, and a smile and would then continue her journey. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Reverend Shirley A. Williams, of Columbia, Missouri; and several nieces and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; her beloved daughter, Rose; two sisters, Goldie Hinds, and Ruby Due; four brothers, A.J., Darrell, Ervin, and Robert.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, August 24, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Carrollton, Missouri.

A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., at the church with Pastor Jeremy Payne officiating.

Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens in Richmond, Missouri.

For those who would like to make a memorial contribution, the family respectfully requests they be made to the First Christian Church Foundation in Eldon, Missouri, and/or the Missouri Baptist Children's Home in Bridgeton, Missouri. They may be left at or mailed to Bittiker Funeral Home, P.O. Box 223, Carrollton, Missouri, 64633.
