She was the daughter of Emit and Alice (Fizer) Hurdelbrink.
She was a graduate of Stockbridge High School, class of 1952. She also graduated from Jackson Comptometer School. In 1955, she married Robert Oakley, and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Myron and John (Mary Ann) Hurdelbrink, and two sisters Marion (Lou) Burmis and Diane (Wayne) Earl; a niece Julie Earl, and a nephew Mike Hurdelbrink.
She is survived by eleven nieces and nephews: Myron (Mary) Burmis, Marla (Fred) Scott, Jill (Mike) Maurer, Janie (Mike) Bowdish, John (Colleen) Earl, Emit Hurdelbrink, Cynde (Sam) Gavito, Mary (Jim) Sutton, Tami (John) Kelly, Pat (Bill) Hurdelbrink, Carol Hurdelbrink; sisters-in-law Lila (Lawrence) Long, Joyce (Wilkie) Fletcher; also many great, and great-great- nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Iris traveled to Japan and Germany twice, plus Georgia, Indiana and California with her husband while he was in the US Army, working wherever he was stationed. In Jackson she worked at Spartan Electric, Model Finance, Art Moehn Chevrolet, plus 45 years on the payroll at Jim Winter Auto Group.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge, with Pastor Susan Trowbridge officiating. Burial will follow at Munith Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Munith United Methodist Church or the Cascades Humane Society.
