Doris Loreen (Fulton) Tanner, 88, from Dallas, was surrounded by her children when she went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, August 16, 2018. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Carl on December 12, 1977. Doree was born to James and Amelia (Acker) Fulton in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 12, 1929. Doree (“Mimi”) will be sincerely missed by her loving family, her devoted friends and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved her.
She is survived by one daughter, Cathy Tanner of Dallas, and two sons, Randy Tanner and his wife, Diane of Irving, and Steve Tanner and his wife, Deannea of Tucson, AZ. She is also survived by granddaughter Erin Choi and her husband Chris, and two great-grandsons, Beckham and Stafford of Dallas, granddaughter Elise Tanner of Dallas, grandson Ryan Tanner of Tucson, AZ, and grandson Phillip Tanner, and his wife Jessica of Boise, ID. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Fulton, and his wife Lorrie of Alexandria, VA.
Doree was a faithful member of several churches over the years, including Bethany Presbyterian, Ridgeview Presbyterian, and Northway Baptist, serving in roles ranging from choir member to teacher to office helper to evangelism team member, and many more. She worked for almost 30 years in the Dallas Independent School District, serving students and faculty as an administrative assistant at W. L. Cabell, T. C. Marsh, W. T. White, and E. D. Walker schools.
Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday, August 19, at Restland Funeral Home, at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243.
Services are Monday, August 20, 2018.
A private family grave site service will be held in the morning, followed by a Memorial Celebration Service at 1:30 PM in the Ellis Chapel at Park Cities Baptist Church, located at 3933 Northwest Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75225. A reception will follow the service.
