Mrs. Lockwood died at Oakwood Country Place in McMinnville on Friday, April 27, 2007. She was 92.
Born in College Place, Wash., on May 24, 1914, she was the daughter of William and Majeska (Mechlin) Evenson.
She graduated from Walla Walla College in 1932. She went on to study at the School of Nursing at the Portland Sanitarium and Hospital, where she earned a nursing degree in 1938.
She married Dr. Berthel L. Lockwood on Aug. 13, 1938, in College Place, and they settled in McMinnville.
She enjoyed canning, gardening, entertaining and playing bridge. She volunteered her help in service of the blind.
"She was a wonderful wife and mother," her family said.
Mrs. Lockwood is survived by a niece, Nancy Nevin of Myrtle Point, and nephew, Marion Earl Jefferies of North Bend.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995; a son, Larry Lockwood, in 2006; and a sister, Carrol Jefferies, in 1962.
