Son of John Boettner and Anna Elizabeth Schodt, husband of Mayme Jane "Mary" Schmidt or Smith, and father of Lillian and Frederick Joseph Boettner.

Obituary - George Edward Boettner, who was born October 10, 1868 in Tamaqua, died Tuesday night in RD 1, Weatherly.

He was a resident of this region most of his life and prior to his retirement some years ago was employed as a pump runner at the Hazleton Shaft colliery of the Lehigh Valley Coal Co. He was a member of Emmanuel's Reformed Church, RD 1, Weatherly.

His wife, the former Mame Schmidt, died 18 years ago. Surviving are the following sons and daughters; Mrs. Stella Seigfried, of Bethlehem; John Boettner, of Quakake; Mrs. Lilly Sipple, of Oakdale; and Fred Boettner, of RD 1, Weatherly. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bachman Funeral Home here. Interment will be in the Beaver Meadows Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home this afternoon and evening.

Death Certificate - George Edward Boettner, aged 80 years, 6 months and 16 days, retired, of Weatherly Road, #1, Packer, Carbon, Pa., born October 10, 1868 in Tamaqua, Pa., the son of John Boettner and Elizabeth Schodt, both of Germany, died at his home on April 26, 1948 of bronchopneumonia and cerebral thrombosis as certified by C.U. Potter, M.D., of Weatherly, Pa., and was buried at Beaver Meadows, Carbon, Pa. on April 29, 1949 by Robert Bachman, Bachman Brothers, Funeral Directors, of Hazleton, Pa. The informant was M. Fred Boettner of Weatherly Road #1.
