Mr. Boone was born in Wake, N.C. He had retired from the Craney Island Naval Supply after 34 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a recipient of 10 Bronze Stars. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Ann H. Boone of Norfolk; two daughters, Barbara B. O'Neal of Virginia Beach and Shirley Ann Babb of Suffolk; two sons, William T. Boone of Holly Springs, N.C., and Robert E. Smith of Virginia Beach; four sisters, Esther B. Oakley of Wendell, N.C., Estelle B. Trexler of Norfolk, Lucille B. Green of Durham, N.C., and Carolyn B. Willoughby of Chesapeake; and 12 grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Terry Beck. Burial with military honors will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
