Robbie Lee "Kirby" Atkins, 48, of Cataula died Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, August 11, 2006 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel with Rev. Gary Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 10, 2006 from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Atkins was born June 3, 1958 to the late Arthur R. and Mildred E. Atkins in Tampa, FL. He was an employee of Cessna Aircraft, a member of Victory Heights Baptist Church, and an avid University of Georgia fan. He is survived by his wife Sheila Atkins of Cataula; a stepson: James Jones, Jr.; four step daughters: Christie McCraine of Columbus, Heather Jones of Cataula, Shasta Tripp and her husband Bobby of Columbus, and Jamie Salzman and her husband Frank of Phenix City; a sister, Glenda Newsome and her husband Wayne of Columbus; two brothers: Arthur K. Atkins of Crawford, AL, Donald W. Atkins of Unidilla, GA; Seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
