Dwayne “Ole” Olson, 81, passed away in his sleep at home on Monday, March 19, 2018.

Memorial service will be 11:00 am Friday, March 23, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1300 S. Sertoma Ave. Sioux Falls, SD.

Memorial visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday, March 22, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Dwayne Barton Olson was born on November 14, 1936 to Carl and Julia (Engberg) “Dude” Olson, on the family farm near Lake Oakwood/Bruce, SD.

Dwayne graduated from Bruce High School in 1953 and enlisted in the US Navy in 1954. In 1958, he married the love of his life, Coral (Ribstein) and they enjoyed an eighteen year honeymoon traveling the world and every corner of the United States through his various Navy assignments.

Upon retiring from the Navy in 1976, they moved back to South Dakota to raise their family and shortly thereafter, became employed by the US Veterans Administration until his retirement in 1995. During his life Dwayne enjoyed many things; golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, but more importantly, spending time with his family. As the years progressed, he continued to “putter” around in the garage even though he could not physically do some of his other favorite pastimes.

Survivors include his wife, Coral; their three children, Teresa (Allen) Miller, Kim (Darren) Farr, Jeff Olson, all of Sioux Falls, SD; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and his brothers, Devon (Noel) Olson, Walnut Creek, CA, Bill (Pat) Intermill, Lake Pointsett, SD; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Dude, his step-Dad Glenn (Shorty) Intermill, his siblings, James "Jim", Eugene "Cots", Carlyle "Fritz", Shirley Hovey and infant siblings Donna Lou and Donald Leon Olson.

For those of you who knew him; We are all “a wee bit better than outstanding” for having him playing a part in our lives.
