Crawfordsville passed away at 5:47 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.

Through the years Michael has been employed at Sommer Metalcraft, Acuity Brand Lighting and Raybestos Powertrain. He was also a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1005. Friends in the order nicknamed him Gomez. Michael graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1973.

Michael was born Feb. 24, 1953, at Frankfort, to Jesse W. and Mary Hornacky Johnson. He married Linda L. Bannon on May 2, 1981. She preceded him in death Aug. 26, 2013.

Survivors include: son Steven Johnson, Crawfordsville; daughter Mindy (Tyler) Nichols, Wingate; two granddaughters, Caroline and Julia Nichols that brought him so much joy in life; and brother Nick (Cathy) Johnson, Crawfordsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Michael enjoyed a life of deer hunting, mushroom hunting and fishing. He also spent many hours tinkering with his classic car and motorcycle.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15 at Hunt and Son Funeral Home, 107 N. Grant Ave. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery North. Friends may visit 1-3 p.m. Wednesday.
