The semi-annual meeting of the Grand Lodge of Odd Fellows of Indiana is in session at Indianapolis and over a thousand delegates from various lodges of the state are in attendance. Charles Simmers is representing Monroeville Lodge No. 283.

Funeral services for Charles H. Simmers, 72, of four and a half miles east of Monroeville in Monroe township died Sunday at the Decatur Memorial hospital following an operation for acute indigestion will be held at 1:30 pm (CST) Wednesday at the Sugar Grove United Brethren church with Rev. Hively and Rev. Dickerson officiating. The body was removed to the residence on the Lincoln highway yesterday from the Painter Brothers funeral home in Monroeville. He was taken to the hospital last Thursday. Surviving are the widow, Luella; four sons, Joe of this city, Charles, Vern, and William, all at home; three daughters, Mrs. Orville Hively and Mrs. William Marquardt, both of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Leo Beauchot of Monroeville. Charles Harvey Simmers, son of William and Phoebe Simmers, was born November 16th, 1864, in Rocking County, Shanadoah Valley, Virginia, and departed this life June 28th, 1936, at the age of 72 years.

He came with his mother and family to Monroe Township, Allen County, when a boy of 8 years of age and lived here the remainder of his life. He was united in marriage to Luella Freese in 1888. To this union 8 children were born. 1 preceding him in death.

Surviving are the widow; four sons and three daughters: Vernon, Charles and William, at home; Joe, Mrs. William Marquardt and Mrs Orville Hively, of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Leo Beauchot, of Monroeville.
Seven grandchildren, three sisters, a host of relatives and friends, mourn their loss of the departed.

Funeral services were conducted July 1st, at the Sugar Ridge U.B. Church, with Rev. Hively, former pastor, assisted by Rev. Dickison, the pastor, officiating. Burial in the Stephenson grave yard nearby.

The I.O.O.F. Lodge held services at the grave, while the Jr. O.U.A.M. Lodge, held their services at the residence on Tuesday evening.

The funeral was the largest held in that vincinity for years
