Robbie Mae accepted Christ as an early age at Grove Temple COGIC, under the leadership of the late Supt. W. E. Roberts. She later joined the Greater New Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Lee Turner.
Robbie learned to play the piano at a young age and loved to play the piano and sing praises unto the Lord.
She attended Oaklawn and graduated from Turner High School in 1961. She later furthered her education at Prairie View A&M University. Robbie studied nursing and worked in the medical field for many years.
Robbie married Mr. George E. Howard and to this union two children were born. She later met and married Mr. Andrew Lockett.
She loved to cook and bake (a family tradition passed on from her grandmother). She never met a stranger, and was always willing to help others. Her beautiful disposition and friendly nature stood out and will never be forgotten. A strong, family oriented woman, she loved her family dearly.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three (3) daughters , Donna Smith of Waxahachie, TX, Paula Y. Howard of Cedar Hill, TX and Shemitra (Willie Jay) Johnson of Red Oak, TX; nine (9) grandchildren , Shantelia, Samayia, Darneshia, Jasmine, Whitney, Anthony, Destiny, Brandy and William; three (3) great grandchildren , Kayla, Keanna and Jordan Brown; mother , Mrs. Evelyn Newell of Dallas, TX; one (1) sister , Jewell Marie Harris of Ennis, TX; one (1) brother , Barry E. (Phyllis) Newell of Mesquite, TX; one (1) nephew , Barry E. Newell II of Chicago, IL; special cousin , Ms. Billie Jo Lusk of Dallas, TX and a host of other relatives and friends.
