Beatrice Scott Farley, "Scotty" the widow of Thomas B. Farley, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, after a long, wonderful life.

Scotty was born in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood on February 22, 1923, and grew up with her siblings in the Forge Village section of Westford. She attended the Cameron Grammar School and was a proud graduate of Westford Academy, Class of 1940. In her youth, Scotty enjoyed swimming and skating on Forge Pond.

In February of 1943 Scotty joined the newly formed Women Marines and became part of the first graduating class. She was a Quarter Master assigned to the Marine Barracks in Norfolk, Virginia where she attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. She served until the end of the war and the base closing in 1945. She returned to Forge Village where she worked in the payroll office of the Abbott Mills and was the last surviving employee who was working in the office during the "Big Robbery". She then was attempting to return to the Marines as they had decide to reinstate the Women's Branch. That all changed when she met Thomas Farley at the Commodore Ballroom in Lowell. They were married August 7, 1948, and raised six children in Lowell. Scotty was a parishioner of the former Sacred Heart Parish. She worked as a doffer in the mills part time, and, after raising her children, went on to work for the IRS. She then transferred to the Finance Department at Ft. Devens, where she received many commendations from the Department of the Army. She retired in 1988 after 20 years. Scotty and Tom retired to Salisbury Beach, where she resided until 2015 when she moved to Marland Place in Andover, where she was living at the time of her death. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and her family was the most important aspect of her life. She previously held membership in both the Westford Academy Alumni Association and the Westford Senior Center. Her name is listed on the Woman's War Memorial, Quantico, as the very first Female Marine from Westford, MA. Scotty would like to say, "See you later, alligator", to all of her friends at Marland Place.

Scotty is survived by her son, Thomas L. Farley of Stafford, Virginia and Salisbury Beach; her daughters, Kathleen (Kate) Farley of Methuen and Ennis, Ireland, Patricia Shupp and her husband Ed of Fairfax, VA, Sheila Patton of N. Andover, and Anne Farley and her companion Phil Shea of Salisbury Beach; her seven grandchildren, Thomas B. Farley, II, Christine Allmon, Maureen Chaisson, Roger S. Chaisson, Rebecca Hulun and her husband Rick, Richard Green, Rachael Gray and her husband Jonathan, as well as fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Farley was predeceased by her husband of forty six years, Thomas B. Farley, her daughter, Maureen Dubay, her brother Robert Lefebre, her sisters, Pearl Nyder, Jean Borges, and Ursula Kittridge, and her best friend of eighty five years, Mary Cote.

FARLEY - Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNRAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL on THURSDAY from 3 until 7 PM.
