Darlene G. Francescato, 85, of Mitchell, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Mitchell Care Center. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, at the Federated Church in Mitchell with Pastor Bob Rose and Rev. Dr. Charles H. Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Mitchell City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, May 8 at the Jones Mortuary in Mitchell. Memorials may be made in care of the family to be designated at a later date.

Darlene was born January 12, 1929 in Newport, Nebraska to William E. and Alta F. (Couchman) Johnson. Her parents moved to the valley when she was six months old. Darlene attended Mitchell Schools and graduated with the class of 1947.

Darlene married Adelino Francescato on January 6, 1953 and to this union two daughters were born, Deanna and Cindi.

Darlene was a loving homemaker and caretaker for her family. She later worked at Blair's Drugstore in Mitchell for several years. She was a member of the Federated Church and Eastern Star. Darlene was an avid bowler and also loved to play cards.

Survivors include her daughters, Deanna (Ed) Sisneros of Mitchell and Cindi Francescato of Elwood City, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Andre (Thania) Pennington of Surprise, Arizona, Adrienne Pennington of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ron Francescato of Mitchell and Eric Weller of Elwood City, Pennsylvania; great grandchildren, Shawn Francescato of Mitchell, Jaden, Mariah and Aliyah of Surprise, Arizona and Tynon of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Theona Beck of Mitchell; and sister-in-law, Joella Johnson of Mitchell.

Preceding Darlene in death was her husband, Add Francescato; her parents; and brother, Donald Johnson.
