Terry served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He worked all his life in the oilfield for Amoco, Cemarix Energy and retired from Merit Energy in 2014. He was the owner of T-Wood's Grocery and Gas for seventeen years.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Farley Lynn Leatherwood ; brother Donald C. Leatherwood and wife, Gail; stepsons Michael Christensen and wife Kelly, Harold Christensen, Cary Christensen; Daughter, Lisa Leatherwood Yoder and husband Ray Gallion II; grandchildren Chelsy Wingate and husband Ryan, Charles Christensen, Christopher Christensen, Drew Christensen and wife Ashley, Kade Christensen and wife, Cassidy, Dylan Gallion, Gary Yoder III, Aubrey Gallion, Levi Yoder, Ava Rae Gallion, great-grandchildren Jace Wingate and Lexi Wingate and many nieces and nephews.

Terry loved his grandkids and cherished his time he spent with his babies. He loved teaching them how to shoot a gun and drive a stick shift in his treasured 1991 Toyota truck. He was a gentle giant loved by everyone that came to meet him. He would have loved to have all his kids live next to him. Of course, he didn't do the cooking and cleaning, only the fun things. But that is okay because his wife loved his big heart and his passion for life and family.
