At the age of 25, he was married on February 17, 1920 in Clinton County, New York to 23 year old Isabella E. Haley, daughter of James Haley and Mary Lord. Richard and Isabella were the parents of Richard Conkey.

At the time of his death, he was 35 years old and lived at 646 Day Avenue in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.
