Edward J. Craul, 74, of 16 Pine St., Mount Joy, died Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital after being stricken at home. He had been under a doctor's care, but death was unexpected. He was the husband of Margaret Z. Funk Craul. The couple observed their 54th anniversary May 22. He was a carpenter and was employed in the building and construction trade until he retired in 1981. Craul had worked for Carl Drohan Building Supplies, Mount Joy, and the Elizabethtown Building Supply and J.C. Snavely and Sons, Landisville. A resident of Mount Joy for the past 54 years, he was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Mount Joy; Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 596, Elizabethtown; and the Friendship Fire Company 1, Mount Joy. During World War II, Craul served in the U.S. Navy as a gunner's mater on the USS Nevada, in the Pacific Asiatic theater. Born in Newtown, Rapho Township, he was the son of the late Priscilla Fogie. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, James E., Elizabethtown; three grandsons; one granddaughter; one great grandson; one great granddaughter; and a sister, Elizabeth Sleyzak, Kissimme, Fla.
