Esther May Jones Crampton moved with her parents and brothers from Illinois to a homestead in the Ellscott, AB area. It was there that she met Fred Leigh Dunphy who was from New Brunswick (by way of California). Fred & Tessie married on April 4, 1914 in Athabasca, AB. They had 2 children - Harold Leon Dunphy and Leona Louise Dunphy. Tessie died at the tender age of 29 due to the Spanish Flu which struck the young & healthy in 1918 / 1919. Times were tight and the family did not install a headstone for the young mother but she rests here at the Cash Creek Cemetery.
