Oleta Jewel Dean Jordan Armstrong went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 29, 2018.
She was born to Carl Wesley Dean and Edith Gladys Hendrix on October 26, 1932 in Weatherford, Texas.

She graduated from Weatherford High School in 1950 and married Forrest Leroy Jordan on March 5, 1950. They lived most of their life in Dallas and Duncanville. She worked by his side for many years in their used car lot business. They were married almost 44 years at the time of his death in 1994. They were members of West Illinois Church of Christ for many years, Duncanville Church of Christ and later Cockrell Hill Church of Christ. They had four children: Gloria, Michael, Cynthia and Anthony (Tony).

In May 1995 she married Jack Harvey Armstrong, Jr. She felt welcomed into his family by Jack Allen Armstrong, Larry Armstrong and Angie Cornett. They lived in Duncanville Texas and were members of Jefferson Blvd Church of Christ and later Edgefield Church of Christ. They enjoyed 18 years of marriage up to the time of his death in 2013.

Oleta enjoyed sewing and needle point. She made many Christmas decorations, dresser scarves and pillows. She was a wonderful cook and made the best chocolate pie and corn bread dressing. She was known for her beautiful voice and was asked to sing at many weddings and funerals. Her faith was very important to her and she believed in her Lord Jesus Christ. She never met a stranger and if you were with her, you never met a stranger.
Her granddaughter, Brittany Zimmerman Newland said it best: “Today my family said a very unexpected and sorrowful goodbye to the matriarch of our family – my Granny. There are far and few people that come into your life with whom you feel an instant invitation for friendship and family from… she was the epitome of that. She had a kindred spirit and a Christian soul who never met a stranger… only a brother or sister in her Lord’s eyes. She was the rock of our family – we are all blessed to have a bit of her inside us. We know we will see her again, so may we strive to live our lives to bless others as she did all who entered her life. We love you and will deeply miss you Granny.”
