William J. “Bill” Fergen, age 86, of McHenry, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry, with his family by his side. He was born August 12, 1931 in Chicago to Julius and Mary (Whitehouse) Fergen. On July 17, 1956 he married Joan Betty Payne in England.
Formerly of Northbrook, Bill moved to McHenry 25 years ago. Bill, a Retired Master Sergeant of the U.S. Air Force, proudly served our country for 20 years, including a tour in Vietnam. A deeply religious man and devout Catholic, Bill attended Mass daily.
Bill and his beloved wife, Joan, recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Bill was surrounded by love and family in his life and in his passing. He will remain forever in their hearts and memories.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; five children, Mary (the late Frederick) Lewis, James (Diane) Fergen, Roy Fergen, Carol (Chuck) Conner, Nancy Norris; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his sister Gloria.
A memorial Mass in honor of Bill will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1407 N Richmond Rd, McHenry, IL 60050.
