Maude E. Amie was one of ten children born to Robert Amie and Minnie Elizabeth Adair Amie. She grew up in the Lake Creek Community and attended the Lake Creek Church School.
Later as a young lady, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas where she lived and worked. She then moved to Seattle, Washington where she became a governess for a wealthy family and worked for them until she retired.
She was a member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Seattle, Washington until her health failed. She was then moved to Texas by her niece, Velasta Phipps, who managed her care.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother—Robert and Minnie E. Amie; her siblings—Cleveland Amie (Ernestine), Essie Lee McColough (J. T.), Deon Amie (Jessie Mae), Henretta Turner (J.), Edward P. Amie (Madline), Tommy Amie (Bonnie), Willie Mae Heath (Bill), Eva Easley (Joe), and Robbie Amie.
