Helen Fleming Nicholls passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at the age of 87 surrounded by family. Helen was born March 6, 1931, in Ogden, Utah to parents Lysle Fleming and Ivy Harris. Helen graduated with an Associates Degree from Weber State University. She continued her education with a Bachelors Degree in Music Pedagogy from California State University, Northridge.
Helen married Donald W. Nicholls for time and all eternity on September 15, 1955, in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Donald. Helen is survived by her 8 children: David Nicholls, Douglas Nicholls, Ilene Kesler, Ruth Blinsmon, Barbara Fortin, Diane Nicholls, Mark Nicholls, and Nancy Lee. Helen's legacy continues with 29 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Helen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She dedicated her life to the service of others. She most enjoyed sharing her musical talent in any way needed. Helen was an accomplished musician in voice, piano, and organ.
Helen shared her musical talents with hundreds of students over the years and took great pleasure in their accomplishments.
Helen's greatest joy was the gathering of her family. Her faith and knowledge that families are forever brought her peace and happiness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 2, 2018, at 11am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 5500 Fruitvale Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93308.
Viewing will start at 10am. Interment at Valhalla Cemetery in North Hollywood on August 3, 2018, at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Humanitarian fund in Helen's name.
