Roy E. Harnish, Jr., age 71, a resident of Gilberts for over 25 years passed away on in the comfort of his home surrounded by and under the care of his family on Saturday afternoon, July 21, 2018. Roy was born in Chicago on June 27, 1947, the son of the late Roy & Lottie Harnish. Roy worked as a Civil Engineer and was a former employee of WT Engineering until his retirement in 2008. He was a proud United States Army veteran and had served during the
Vietnam War. Roy was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in West Dundee. Survivors include his wife; Anna. His daughter; Christina (Brad) Johnson and his grandchildren; Tiffany and Brett. His stepchildren; Angie (Lukasz) Kiezel and Michael (Rachel) Okonski and his step-grandson; Niko. Other survivors include his sister; DiAnna (Edward) Oskorep and brothers; Paul (Nancy) and Steve (Denise) Harnish as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family and Friends will gather for a Funeral Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, Gilberts on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. The Harnish family will be receiving friends at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, masses would be appreciated or memorials may be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
