CANBY, Modoc County, September 26--Ray H. Helt, who with his wife owned and operated the Canby Hotel, died in a Klamath Falls hospital last week. His death followed a long illness.

Funeral services were held in the Kerr Chapel Sunday afternoon. Interment was in the Alturas Cemetery.

Helt was born in Moscow, Idaho on May 10, 1896, and was a resident of Marshfield, Oregon before coming to California.

He leaves his wife, Gertrude, of Canby and his stepdaughter, Mrs. Mildred Schiro of Salem, Oregon, his brothers, Victor of Addy, Washington, Bernie of Valley, Washington, William of Caldwell, Idaho, and Arthur of Albany, Oregon, and his sisters, Mrs. Bertha Udivich of Hayward, Mrs. Gertrude Hahn of Niles, Mrs. Amanda Low of Addy, and Mrs. Stella Bean of Salem.
