Velma May Young, daughter of James Hershel and Viola Mason Blevins, was born December 24, 1933 near Seymour, Missouri and departed this life on July 18, 2018 at Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour, Missouri at the age of eighty-four years, six months, and twenty-four days.

On December 16, 1950 she was united in marriage to Hile Bertin Young and to this union five children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Hile, son, Billy V. Young, two brothers, Wayne and Robert Blevins, and sister, Lucille Gann.

Velma is survived by her children, Ronald Eugene Young and wife, Lucinda, of Seymour, Missouri, Connie Sue Noble of St. Louis, Missouri, Donald D. Young and wife, Maria, of Killeen, Texas and Wanda Kay Hayut of Bat Yam, Israel; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, James A. Blevins of Springfield, Missouri and Dorsey Blevins and wife, Julia, of Branson, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She lived all her life in Seymour except for living in several different places during Hile’s military service. She had worked at the H.D. Lee Plant, Seymour Locker Plant, and Country Wholesale.

Velma made a profession of faith in Christ and was baptized at an early age. She had attended Seymour Christian Church.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and tending to her yard.

Velma was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the special times we had together.
