Majors, Alma Ruth "Memaw"

Alma peacefully left us to join her Lord and Savior surrounded by the love of her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jefferson (Uncle Jeff) and Lula Oglesby; her husband, Joe Majors; a brother; T.J. Ogelsby; and a sister, Lela Roberts. She is survived by her son, Driscoll and wife Louise; grandchildren, Susan Canny (Mike) of Hampton, W.V., and Debbie O'Donnell (James) of Ellorie, S.C.; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Memaw covered us all in a blanket of love that will be cherished in our hearts forever. Our hearts ache at the loss of Memaw, but rejoice in the knowledge that she resides now in heaven with Christ.

Memaw was a pioneer of Okaloosa County. She was born in Wright and attended the Wright Schoolhouse. She resided in Wright until moving to Escambia Farms. For the past 27 years, Alma resided at White Sands Manor.

Memaw dedicated her life to children. Working as a teacher's aide for Okaloosa County School Board and taking in many children throughout the years and raising them as her own.

A time of visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery.

Driscoll would like to thank Betty Roberts Zingaretti and Katherine Oglesby for the many years of dedication caring for Alma. A special thank you to Shelby Oglesby for the kindness and joy she brought to Memaw's life.

The family request that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Covenant Hospice, or that an Angel be adopted from the Salvation Army Angel Tree to make a child's Christmas special.
