Michael Newbold II was born in 1667 at Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England to Michael and Anne Topping Newbold. He was christened October 3, 1667 at Eckington, Derbyshire, England. After coming to America, Michael married Rachel Clayton February 24, 1697 at Burlington County, New Jersey and their children were: Anne, Sarah, Thomas, Margaret Clayton, Michael III, John and Barzillai. On January 23, 1709, Michael was commissioned as a Justice of the Peace in Burlington County. His will was written November 29, 1721. He died December 1, 1721 at Chesterfield in Burlington County and was buried in that county at Springfield. His children were all named in the will, except for John who had previously died. The estate was valued at over 678 pounds which included his home farm of 300 acres, 600 acres in Springfield Township, 400 acres in Hunterdon County and two Negro men.
