Purtle/Purtale, age 26, a farmer, born in Henderson County, Tennessee, enlisted with the 8th Missouri Volunteer Cavalry, USA on July 26, 1862 in Marshfield, Missouri as a Pvt. in Company "B". September 4/15, 1862 Transferred to Company "G", per Regimental Order. {One Muster Roll Card stated: "K".} September 1864 On Duty, Working on Fortifications. November 30, 1862 Absent, Detailed on Foraging party. December 4/16, Absent Without Leave in Wright County, Missouri. January 29/31, 1863 Died at Home in Wright County, Missouri of Measles. {Clerical miss-statements per Day of Death!} Final Statement Forwarded. Casualty Sheets in File shows -2- Dates of Death!
