James D. "Jimmy" Bingham, 78, resident of Ripley and retired construction supervisor, passed away Monday evening July 16, 2018 at Diversicare Health & Rehabilitation Center in Ripley following a brief illness.
Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Bingham will be at 11 AM Thursday July 19 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Rex Yancey officiating. Bro. Ed McCafferty will have Personal Reflections. Burial will follow at Falkner Cemetery in Tippah County.
Born August 10, 1939 in Benton County, he was the son of the late O.D. and Ruby Moody Bingham. Mr. Bingham was a graduate of Ashland High School and was a dedicated employee of the construction industry with companies that included Raymond Stacks Construction Company and Kimes & Stone Construction until his retirement in January 2018. On February 8, 1989 he married his beloved wife, the former Nell Duncan, who survives.
A Christian and member of First Baptist Church in Ripley, Mr. Bingham will be remembered for his love of auctions, yard sales and living by the motto "one man's junk is another man's treasure". He took much pride in his antique trucks and could often be found in his "shop" where he enjoyed his carpentry work making shelves and cabinets.
Visitation will continue Thursday until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bingham is survived by two step sons, Clarence Balof (Kathy) and Robert Balof (Shelia) both of Ripley, his twin sister, Carolyn Rainey of Hickory Flat, three grandchildren, Joe Mitch Balof (Amanda), Emily Balof and Hannah Kiser (Jake) and 4 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Robbie Bingham in 1996, and a sister, Mary Jo Samples.
