Native and lifelong resident of San Francisco. Tom passed away on June 21, 2018 at the age of 89. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. Ahern and Helen G. Kilday-Ahern and sister Virginia A. Johnson. Tom graduated from St. James Catholic High School. He served in the US Navy during WW II and graduated from USF. He had a long career with the City, State and Federal government including 5 years with the SFPD. He is survived by his devoted longtime friend, Norma Kristovich, his brother-in-law, James D.Johnson, nieces, nephews and extended family. He had many interests including politics, books and everything in his nieces and nephew's lives. Private services were held at Holy Cross Chapel.
