Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at First United Church, Farnhamville with Rev. Dr. James Chestnutt officiating. Burial will be in Reading Township Cemetery, Farnhamville. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Palmer Funeral home, Gowrie. Additional visitation will be 9:00 am Wednesday until the time of service.
Raymond Emrick Wilson was born June l2, 1944 in Jefferson, Iowa. He graduated from Paton High School, with the Class of 1962. Following his education, Ray worked various jobs in the Gowrie area. He first worked for Lizer Sale Barn, then Lee Benson Chevrolet, and then Standard Engineering in Fort Dodge.
On August 20, 1966, he was united in marriage to Jane Heflin at the Paton United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Gowrie. In 1974, they moved to Farnhamville. Ray worked at the Webster City Stock Yards until 1982, when he started buying cattle on his own. He was a member of the First United Church, Farnhamville and the Calhoun County Cattlemen’s. He was an avid supporter and alumni of the FFA.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; daughters, Mary Jo (Alan) and Brenda (Robert); four grandchildren, Adam and Jason; Maureen and Blake (Kylee); Kylan (Sammi); two great-grandchildren, Payton and Taytum; brothers, Rex (Virginia) and Roger (Dorena); and sisters-in-law, Ellen, and Judy .
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Nadine (Metzger) Wilson; infant sister, Victoria Wilson; brothers, Robert, Richard, and Russell Wilson; and sister-in-law, Lois Wilson.
