Bill worked for Standard Oil before working and retiring from United Suppliers Elevator in Kesley. After Ardella's death, Bill married Sheryl Fay Kono on April 18, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church, Aplington.
Bill was a member of Aplington Evangelical Presbyterian Church, served on Aplington Cemetery Board and was a former member of Aplington Jaycess and ARC board. He was the official AHS football and basketball scorekeeper for more than 35 years.
Bill was a loving husband, caring father and Papa wo his whole family. He loved to play fast pitch softball, bowl, golf, play cards and cribbage, participate in demolition derby at the fair, attend coffee with the guys and watch sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Survivors are his wife; three children; son-in-law; eight grandchildren; four step children; seven step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; five brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents; wife Ardella; daughter, Darla Ubben; four brothers-in-law: Ronald Alberts, Kenny Mehmen, Ronald DeBoer and Jerald DeBoer; sister-in-law, Marian (Daryl) Becker.
