John A. Burrows went to be with God on April 26, 2007 after a 15 month fight against lung cancer. His attitude and faith were inspirational to many, particularly since he had never smoked. He passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 16, 1941 in Oklahoma City to Rhodes and Delphia Hazel Burrows. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Rhonda Kay Timmons. John loved the Lord, his family, gardening, woodworking, and traveling. He enjoyed his Sunday School class at First Christian Church, Edmond, and delighted in working at Breakfast on Boulevard serving others. He was a graduate of Grant High School and OSU Tech. He worked for IBM Corporation for 29 years until 1994 when he began working for SAIC at Tinker AFB for 10 years. He is survived by his wife, Linda, daughter Lisa Butts, son John A. Burrows II and wife Gina, son David Kroeger and wife Melanie, and daughter Debbie Hite and husband Tom. He is also survived by his brother Jack Burrows and wife Ruth, and sister Ann Edwards and husband Bill. He loved his nine grandchildren, Billy Timmons, Ashley Bell, Joshua Butts, Eden Kroeger, Leah Kroeger, Luke Kroeger, Joel Kroeger, Aislynn Hite, and Sullivan Hite. He will be missed by many close friends and a large extended family. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jess Armor and the staff at Cancer Care Associates as well as the compassionate people from Mercy Hospital and Mercy at Home Hospice. Internment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens at 1PM, April 30, 2007. The memorial service to celebrate his life will follow at First Christian Church, Edmond, at 2:30PM with Reverend Chris Shorow officiating. Services will be under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or First Christian Church of Edmond. ...
