Cliff was born September 28, 1925 in Goodwater AL. At age 17 he enlisted in the U.S Navy and fought in the Asiatic Pacific campaign during WWII. After being honorably discharged from the navy he married Ruth Elizabeth Simpkins on Sept 29, 1946. He worked as a traveling salesman for Firestone, Colgate Palmolive, and American Greetings. He enjoyed playing cut throat games of Risk with his grandchildren. He would talk to anyone that would listen to him. He was extremely proud of his military service and wore his WWII veteran hat anytime he left his home.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Ruth Elizabeth; daughters, Crystal Hubertus, and Cinderella Forney (Russ); daughters-in-law, Paula Atchley and Laura Atchley; 8 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons Cliff Jr and Cleve Atchley and grandson Clint Atchley.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday July 19, 2018 at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Rd Tallahassee, FL 32303 with interment immediately following at Tallahassee National Cemetery. A celebration of Cliff’s life will be held in Pell City, AL on Saturday July 21, 2018 from 11:00am-1:00pm in the home of Ruth Atchley.
