Mary Louise Diesel age 98 of Bloomington, IL passed away at 12:15 PM on Friday, July 13, 2018 at her residence.
A service celebrating her life will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL. Pastor Patsy Koeneke will be officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 AM-11:00 Wednesday at the memorial home. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum, Bloomington, IL. The family suggests memorials be made to OSF Hospice Program.
Mary was born August 23, 1919 in Bloomington, IL the daughter of John Eugene and Ruth Inez Gaddis Naffizger. She married the love of her life William Gardner Diesel on September 5, 1948 in Bloomington, IL. He passed away May 29, 1990
Surviving are her 2 children, John (Gina) Diesel, Paducah, KY, Ann M. Kennedy, Bloomington, IL, 5 grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Gratz, Paducah, KY, Rachael Johnson, Bloomington, IL,
Tommy (Sarah) Diesel, Metamora, IL, Christopher Johnson, Longmont, CO, Priscilla Johnson, Lexington, IL and 7 great-grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Holly Johnson, 3 brothers, Warren, Dean and John Naffziger and 1 sister, Ruth Broere.
Mary was a graduate of the Mennonite School of Nursing. She was a nurse at the Sloan Clinic for 6 years and later Mennonite Hospital for 27 years. Mary was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bloomington, IL and a member of the Mennonite Hospital Nurses Alumni Association and the TED Sorority. Mary and her husband Bill enjoyed traveling in their motor home. She enjoyed flower gardening and reading. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
