"Sarah Tomlinson, (above), was b. 9 May 1833, Echols Co., and there she died at Mayday; she m. John Touchton 27 Mar. 1851, Clinch Co., who was b. 22 Oct. 1826, Barnwell Dist., S. C., d. 15 Nov. 1891, bur. Mayday, Echols Co.; he was a son of James Touchton and Rebecca Hutto. (Ref: sketch on this couple, pp. 324-5, Vol. III, "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia"), Judge Huxford states that they were both buried at Macedonia Baptist Church near Mayday. Touchton served as Justice of Echols Inferior County 1863-65 and as County Surveyor there 1879-83; was a member of the Masonic order, his membership being in Alapaha Lodge No. 209, Statenville, where he received his degrees, 1866, and died a member."
