Ella J. Karppi, 80, Coleraine, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital. Born July 8, 1924, in Coleraine, she was the daughter of Peter L. and Angelina A. (Porter) Paul. Ella lived most of her life in the Coleraine area, and married Arthur W. Karppi on Feb. 15, 1942. She was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Bovey, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Bovey, and a former member of the First United Church of Coleraine.
She is survived by her children, William (Carol) Karppi, Coleraine, and Vicki (Keith Granby, Champlain, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; brother Roy (Grace) Paul, Granada Hills, Calif.; sisters Joyce Walls, Richfield, Joy Haasis, Superior, Wis., and Mabel (Don) MacKenzie, International Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Arthur W. Karppi; a son, Willis "Bud" Karppi; grandson Matthew Brown; great-granddaughter Sarah Ziermeier; and a sister, Mary Jean Langolf.
Services: Saturday, Oct. 9, at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Bovey.
Burial Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine. Arrangements are by Peterson Funeral Chapel, Coleraine.
