CUNNINGHAM
William A., M.D., died at home Monday, May 13, 1991, after a long illness. Born December 8, 1923 in Fresno, Ca., he came to Oklahoma following service in the Phillipines during WWII. He obtained his degree in Animal Husbandry from Oklahoma State University in 1949, worked for Wilson and Co. and then felt called to pursue medicine. He received his M.D. from the University of Oklahoma in 1958, interned at Alameda County Hospital, Oakland, Ca., and took his residency at Los Angeles County General. Returning to Okla. City in 1962, he joined beloved friend and mentor, W.W. Sanger (Buck) in practicing Opthalmology. Bill was a member of the Oklahoma County Medical Society, Kappa Sigma Fraternity and the Men's Dinner Club, but is best remembered for his commitment to family, patients, and the Christian community. He accepted Christ personally in his late thirties, and thereafter sought to make Him Lord of his life. As a physician, he ministered to the whole man. He is survived by his wife, Jean Monnet Cunningham; son, Will Cunningham and wife, Cindy of Branson, Mo.; three daughters, Claudia Joachims and husband Steve of Richardson, Tx., Charlotte Burton and Husband Robert of Oklahoma City, and Jeanette Cunningham, Okla. City; sister, Maggy Morford and husband, Bob, Abilene, Tx.; brother-in-law, Dr. Charles Monnet and wife Dorothy; six grandchildren and 9 nieces and nephews. In later years, Bill's favorite book was the life of Jeremiah, "Run with the Horses." He ran his own last race with persistent peace and patience. He will be missed by us all. Following private burial, services will be held Thursday, May 16, 1991, at 12:00 Noon at Our Lords Community Church. Under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper. Memorials may be made to Young Life, Our Lord's Community Church or the American Caner Society.
