Ruth M. Umberger, such a beautiful soul, leaves us to be with her Lord and Savior. She leaves behind a legacy of teaching all of us how others should be treated. Ruth was a Florida native, born and raised in Hatch Bend. She is the daughter of the late Quinn Bass and Margie Wilson Bass.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Conrad L. Umberger; sons, Jimmie L. Rodgers, Bradley R. Umberger (Kim), Christopher P. Kenner, Michael P. Kenner (Amy) and David L. Umberger; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Joseph Bass (Ella), James Bass, Billy Bass (Stephanie) and Lamar Bass (Laurie).
Ruth retired in 2008 from the State of Florida, Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Division of Field Operations in Tallahassee as an assistant bureau chief. Upon retiring, she relocated to High Springs to be closer to her family.
Ruth was a wonderful, loving and caring wife, mother and friend, always putting others before herself. She enjoyed having gatherings at her home where family and friends would enjoy good food and fellowship.
