As a mark and admiration this memorial is presented by a committee upon the death of Burr J. Marbut. On August 14, 1900 the life work of Burr J. Marbut was ended and he was called up higher to receive the reward for his faithful service here. He lived a life of quiet self respect, faithful to every duty as a friend, a citizen and a member of the church. His devotion to the cause of his Master by his unswerving loyalty to what is right, he established himself as a pillar in the church and society. He was universally loved and respected and of him it is gratefully said no hard thing was ever heard spoken. His life will continue to speak and the beautiful influence emanating from it will live, survive and go on to work in the world and as the years go by the sacred spot where his body rests will bring to us the faithful loving heart, the cheerful concentrated life of Burr Marbut.

Therefore, be it resolved that we recognize in his death the loss of a valued soldier of the Cross who quitted himself like a man. Those who knew him well revered his name and cherish his many virtues and be it further resolved that we in behalf of the church extend to the sorrowing family our tender sympathy in their bereavement. Be it resolved that a copy of this memorial be placed upon the records of the church at Ebenezer and that it be published in the county papers and also that a copy of the same be sent to the family of the deceased. J. W. Cowan, W. T. Stanton, J. W. Almand, Committee - - September 5, 1900.
