Cecil Donald Flander was the son of John Ramond and Irene Conrad Flander. He attended Bluff Creek Country School where he graduated from the 8th grade.
On April 10, 1945, He was married to Esther Louise Hughes on April 10, 1945 at the St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Albia, Iowa. To this union nine children were born: Dale, Mildred, John, Roger, Dennis, Larry, Margaret, Teresa and Marilyn.
They relocated to Montezuma in 1955, where they raised their children. He was a farmer and later a custodian at Montezuma Community Schools.
He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, farming, gardening and watching WWE on TV.
Cecil was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Grinnell.
