PARENTS: Franz Anlauf & Agnes Suthan.

Franz and Agnes, married & started their family in Germany. They immigrated to America in 1852, nine years before the start of the Civil War, and settled in Pennsylvania. By 1870 they'd moved to Wisconsin and then further westward to Oregon where they built their homestead along Pheasant Creek in Douglas Co., Oregon in 1872.

It's now just a dot on the map. A sign on the highway. A ghost town.

LOGGING-BUNK.

To all, whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, PIUS A. ANLAUF and FRANZ J. ANLAUF, citizens of the United States, residing at Curtin, in the county of Douglas, State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Logging-Brinks; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in logging bunks, and has for its object to produce a device of this character adapted for application upon logging wagons or cars, the same being provided with adjustable chock blocks for supporting the logs upon the car or wagon.

A further object of the invention is to produce a device of this character so formed as to prevent accumulation of chips, dirt or bark thereon, whereby the logs are prevented from moving longitudinally, which is common in other devices of this character. [the application continues]

In testimony whereof, We affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
