Mary Virginia Smyth Smith, age 100, passed away Monday, July 3, 2006 at her home. Mrs. Smith was born August 22, 1905 in Meadowview, VA to the late Hugh Lee Smyth and Mary Booth Smyth. She was a member of the Meadowview United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Betty Riddle Circle. She retired after 23 years of service with the Washington County Service Authority.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Odis Dennison Smith.
She is survived by nephews, many cousins and many great-nephews and nieces, great, great nephews and nieces, and great, great, great nephews and nieces and a host of friends. Although she had no children, she was a mother to many.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the Meadowview United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Holston Conference Emory and Henry Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Farris Funeral Service, Abingdon, VA.
Pallbearers will be great nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Meadowview United Methodist Church and Meadowview First, Inc. .
