Laura was born July 14, 1912, in Forgan, Okla., to William Luther Allen and Martha Frances Bowles Allen. She graduated from Darrouzett High School. Laura married Lee Berlin Carter on Aug. 28, 1935, in Gage, Okla. They moved to Plainview in 1958 and she was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband; son, Jerry Dean Carter; 10 brothers and sisters; three grandchildren, Jerry Dean Carter Jr., Cheryl Lee Carter and Eric Christopher Carter; and one great-grandchild, Trevor Greene.
Laura was survived by her daughters, Glenda Blaine and husband Bill of Hobbs, N.M., and Kay Ward and husband Tom of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren, Wayne Carter of Taos, N.M., Valarie Barley of Lubbock, Lawna Greene of Stephenville, Susan Draper of Hobbs, N.M. and Kyle Boles of Amarillo; nine great-grandchildren, Tanner Hagerman of Bryan, Texas, Mollie Hagerman of Canyon, Lauren Greene of Stephenville, Trey Draper of Hobbs, N.M., Taylor Greene of Stephenville, Samuel Draper of Hobbs, N.M., Luke Boles of Amarillo, Audrey Boles of Amarillo and Lidia Draper of Hobbs, N.M.; one great-great-grandchild, Emma Hagerman of Bryan, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in Amarillo, Texas.
