The 152nd was recruited in the 9th, 10th and 11th Congressional districts and organized at Indianapolis. It was mustered in March 16 and left the state on the 18th for Harper's Ferry, Va., where it was assigned to duty with one of the provisional divisions of the Army of the Shenandoah. It was stationed at intervals at Charlestown, Stephenson's depot and Summit Point, later moving to Clarksburg, W. Va. where it remained until mustered out on Aug. 30, 1865.
