Marshall Slayden Moran was born in November 1893 in Dickson County, Tennessee, the son of John Luther Moran (1872–1955) and Callie Ann (Baker) Moran (1871–1958).
He was married on September 9, 1916 in Houston County to Mable Mary Haimer (1899-1955), the daughter of James E Haimer and Martha "Elizabeth" (Ross) Haimer (1858-1924).
A highway worker living in Erin, he was 35 years old and married when he died of the flu on on February 26, 1929. Burial was the next day in Ross Graveyard.
