Mary Frances Eiland Downs, 82 of Quincy, Illinois and formerly of Canton, Missouri passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
The daughter of Torance and Betty Patterson Eiland was born on December 13, 1935 at Thorsby, Alabama.
She was united in marriage to Charles L. “Chuck” Downs, Sr. on January 25, 1958 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Canton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2007.
Mary was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Canton. She was also a member of Cursillo, R.E.C. and T.E.C. She liked to attend Bible study, cook, do crafts and play cards. She also loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Teresa (Sheldon) Robinson of Quincy, Il., Lisa Parson of Quincy, Il., Robin Downs of Quincy, Il., Bob (Tamra) Downs of Wichita, Ks., Cynthia (Kirk) Vollbracht of Camp Point, Il., Jim (Paula) Downs of Canton, Mo., Angela Power of Quincy, Il., Chris (Maricar) Downs of Santa Rosa, Laguna, Philippines and Shelia (Michael) Gafford of Belleville, Il.; eighteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; a sister, Myrtle Conner of E. Moline, Il.; and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Charles L. Downs, Jr., a sister and several brothers.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Canton, Missouri with Father Jerry Kaimann officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday morning from 10 AM until the time of services at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Canton.
Memorials may be made to St. Anne’s Alter Society or the donor’s choice.
