Roland L. Beal, Sr., 88, of Big Spring, died Sunday, July 1, 2018 in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Elwin Collom, officiating.

He was born July 3, 1929 in Coleman, Texas to Allie and Bertie Beal and married Lanette Zenkner April 23, 1951 in Abilene, Texas. She preceded him in death November 17, 2015.

Roland served in the United States Army during the Korean War from May 1951 to May 1953.

He came to Big Spring in 1958 after being transferred from Onyx Refinery in Abilene.

He worked for Cosden Refinery for 40 years, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of the 25 Year Club at Cosden and was currently attending Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Roland Beal, Jr. and wife, Pam of Midland; one daughter, Theresa Sterling and husband, Jimmy of Vincent; six grandchildren, Michael Beal and wife, Jennifer, Jamie Pitkin and husband, Jeremy, Jennifer Dickerson and husband, Dale, Tara Renfro and husband, William, Karen Rechichar and husband, Ryan, and Laci Ritchey and husband, Matt; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Freddie Beal; and one sister, Vadine Spivey of Tucson, Arizona.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Inez Gunnels and Rozella Beal; two brothers, Eddie Beal and Zeddie Beal; and a great-grandson, Zachary Jordan Pitkin.

The family suggests memorials to the donor's favorite charity.
